HASLET LIBRARY WINS GRANT
The Haslet Public Library was only one of four libraries in the state to win the J. Frank Dobie Trust Grant this year.
J. Frank Dobie Library Trust Awards are monetary awards given each spring to library applicants selected by the Award Committee. The number and amount of awards depend on net income produced by the Trust. At Mr. Dobie's request, announcement of the awards is made at the annual meeting of the Texas Library Association.
According to the terms of the Trust, funds awarded may be used solely for the purchase of books. Note: books which have been reformatted for ease of use, i.e., books in electronic format, are eligible.
Application is open to public libraries in Texas which:
Serve a population of 20,000 or less,Are legally established,Are open at least 20 hours per week.
Haslet Library Director Jennifer Brown received the news during a luncheon at the Annual Texas Library Association Conference this past April.
"I found out that Haslet was only one of four libraries in the state to win the grant. When Mr. Stewart handed me the check, my mouth dropped open. We were given $8000.00!"
