    Overview
Since determinations by the board of adjustments are that of a quasi-judicial body, its judgments and decrees are afforded a presumption of legality by state law. The board may hear and determine cases concerning alleged violations of the ordinances of the City of Haslet.

    Creation

The board of adjustments was created in 2002 by ordinance #0603-02. Sometimes this board is referred to as zoning board of adjustments. Specific detail about the board of adjustments can be found in the Haslet City Code, Chapter 14 (Zoning) Article 14.05. The BOA was established for the purpose of hearing, in appropriate cases and subject to appropriate conditions and safeguards, requests for special exceptions and variances to the terms of Haslet’s zoning ordinance in accordance with any applicable rules contained in the ordinance.

    Term
Each board member serves a two-year term. They serve concurrent terms with their appointing council member, but generally, Place 1, 3, 5 expire on even-numbered years, and Place 6, 2 and 4 expire on odd-numbered years. Alternate Place 1 expires in odd years and Alternate Place 2 in even years.

    City Staff Liaison

Board of adjustment members are provided clerical / administrative support from the Community Development Department and other members of city staff, as appropriate.
