About Haslet

HASLET, TEXAS. Haslet is on Farm Road 156 some sixteen miles northwest of Fort Worth in extreme north central Tarrant County. The area was settled around 1880, but it is likely that no distinct community formed until 1883, when the tracks of the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway were extended through the area. A post office opened there in 1887. The community was named for the Michigan hometown of the railroad's contractor. Read More......

Northwest ISD

The City of Haslet is served by Northwest Independent School District. Northwest ISD is rapidly becoming one of the fastest growing school districts in the state. Located north of Fort Worth and west of the Dallas metroplex, Northwest ISD has a vision of becoming the best and most sought-after school district in Texas.

The Northwest Independent School District covers more than 232 square miles and serves 13 communities. The district of about 11,800 students is expected to double in size during the next five years and have as many as 93,000 students by 2027.

Northwest ISD has one high school, three middle schools, 11 elementary schools, a special programs center and a community-based youth residential program.  The district opened Kay Granger Elementary School, its eleventh K-5th grade campus, this school year.

Attendance Boundaries
The school(s) your children will attend depends on where you live within Northwest ISD. The district operates 11 elementary schools, three middle schools, and one high school. Northwest ISD is divided into three attendance zones — Central, East, and West — which consist of community elementary schools that feed into a middle school. The middle schools then feed into Northwest High School.
