THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF HASLET, TEXAS WILL CONVENE IN REGULAR SESSION AT 7:00 P.M. ON MONDAY, MAY 5, 2008 IN THE HASLET COMMUNITY CENTER LOCATED AT 105 MAIN STREET.

AGENDA

1.          Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is present.

2.          Invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

3.          Citizen Participation and Comments:   (Please fill out a “Citizen Comment” form to address the Council and turn into the City Secretary prior to the beginning of the meeting.   Speakers are normally allowed three minutes – the Council may adjust time limits.)

4.          Consider and act on the April 21, 2008 minutes.  

5.          Presentation of donation from Chief Oil & Gas for participation in the construction of the Fire Hall Field.

6.          Consider and act on Metroport Meals On Wheels request for funding.

7.          Consider and act on changes to the members of the Planning and Zoning Commission including place movements and appointments.  

8.          Consider and act on approving the 4A Economic Development Budget for 2008.

9.          Consider and act on approving May 17, 2008 for City Clean-Up Day.

10.         Executive Session:   The City Council may enter into Executive Session during the meeting to seek legal advice from its attorney on any posted agenda item, or to discuss any item that is authorized by the Texas Open Meetings Act to be discussed in closed session, including:

            A.         Section 551.072, Government Code, deliberation regarding real property.

B.          Section 551.071, Government Code, – Consultation with Attorney; A governmental body may not conduct a private consultation with its attorney except:   (1) when the governmental body seeks the advice of its attorney about: (A) pending or contemplated litigation; or    (B) a settlement offer; or (2) on a matter in which the duty of the attorney to the governmental body under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of Texas clearly conflicts with this chapter.

            C.         Section 551.087, Government Code, deliberation regarding economic development negotiations.

            D.         Section 551.074, Government Code, to deliberate regarding the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline, or dismissal of a public officer or employee.

            E.         Section 551.073, Government Code, to deliberate about gifts or donations to the City.

11.         Consider and act on executive session items.

12.         Consider and act on items to be placed on the next agenda.

13.         Adjourn.
