Library Cards
Any Texas resident may apply for a free Haslet Public Library card by filling out an application and presenting a photo id (driver's license) with current address. New residents: if your driver's license does not show your new address, bring a utility bill or another official document showing new address.

Story Time for Children
Wednesdays - 10:15 am - Storytime for preschool children and their parents.
October is Teen Month at the library
College Night - October 16, 5 - 7 pm. Representatives from area colleges will be at the library with information about their schools and to answer your questions. If you are narrowing down your college choices, or even if you are just starting to think about college, this program is for you. Teens and their parents are encouraged to attend.
Book Club Night - October 23, 5 - 7 pm. Pick a Tayshas book to read and discuss. Tayshas books are for grades 9 - 12 and were chosen by teachers and librarians for their excellence and appeal to teens. All books are available at the library. Assistant Librarian Lisa Betham will lead the discussion.
Pizza will be served.
First Saturday Book Collection
Friends of the Haslet Library will be at the "rock house" the
first Saturday of every month from 10 am to noon to accept your donations for future book sales. The "rock house" address is 201 N. Hwy 156 in Haslet. (You may also donate materials at the library anytime we are open.)
Types of materials wanted: hardcover and paperback books, DVDs, VHS videos, books on tape and CD, music CDs.
Not accepted: magazines, textbooks, condensed books, encyclopedias.
Friends of the Haslet Library
Sunday October 19 - 2 pm. Friends meeting - open to all. Join the Friends and support the library. Volunteer to help with the book sale and other projects.
Summer Reading Jubilee
The Summer Reading Program has ended. Over 450 children registered, and they read almost 7,000 books! Thank you for participating and keep reading -- The Library Staff.

World Book Encyclopedia - This excellent resource provides up-to-date information from the World Book Encyclopedia, as well as an atlas, dictionary, and special section on Texas. *New* Also provides access to "World Book Kids;" Spanish Language Encyclopedia - Estudiantil Hallazhgos en Linea; World Book Advanced. Options are listed at bottom of World Book Online Reference Center page - look for "Switch to another World Book site".
To access World Book, follow the link above. For log-in, enter HPL plus the last four digits of your library card barcode (no spaces). Example: HPL0900.
TexShare Databases - Numerous databases offer a wealth of information from books, magazine articles and newspapers on current events, history, genealogy, health and medicine, business, and much more.
To access, call the library for a log-in and password at 817-439-4278. You must have a Haslet library card.
